Who is the girl behind Manzanita?
My name is Rebecca Caridad. I live in Boulder, CO with my husband and our two very small dogs. By day I work at a property management company and when I get home from work I try my best to keep up with my many passions and hobbies. This is an ever growing list but most of manzanita is made up of photography, crochet, life and style blogging, and art.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I originally started blogging as a way to promote my etsy shop where I sell handmade crochet items. Since then it has become a huge and unexpected feature of my life. The community and inspiration that has come with blogging still blows my mind every day. I really love it.
Coffee or tea?
Both! I drink one cup of coffee in the morning, black with sugar. And, my favorite daily treat is a decaf almond bhakti chai from whole foods. The people who work behind the coffee bar there know me well.
If you were a tree, what would you be?
I guess I would be an apple tree, manzanita means little apple in spanish. My husband and I got married on an apple orchard. Here is a little post about why I decided to call my brand manzanita.
What would your first thought be if you found out you won the lottery?
I have a very large family so I would probably try and figure out a way to share the prize with all of them. After that I would buy my entire photo equipment wish list. This is a pretty lofty list and I wish for it often. After that I would sit down with my husband and plan an all around the world trip for a year. After that we would shop for some beautiful land to buy so that we could build a little cabin somewhere in the woods where can have a garden and a mini farm.
How do you describe yourself in 3 words?
oh man this question is always so hard for me! creative, analytical, and open.
Let's go on a vacation tomorrow, where should we go?
Well I have a lot of places that I want to visit, but the next trip that my husband and I are hoping to take is to Ireland and Scotland. We wanted this to be our honeymoon, but couldn't swing it after our wedding. Our plan is to rent a little car and drive all over Ireland and then go into Scotland to see the highlands. So excited!
What blogs do you follow religiously?
What did you have for breakfast?
My husband made me an egg and I ate it in about 2 seconds because I was running late for work.
What is 1 thing you hope to accomplish this year?
I really want to paint more and I have been trying to open a paperie forever, so that would be amazing! I also am planning on writing a gardening book with my mom. That would also be completely amazing!
Thanks so much for sharing your story! I loved all of your answers! I, too would love to rent a car and drive for days. I think it's always inspiring to hear dreams of others you admire. Thanks again Rebecca!
Wishing you all a great weekend!
peace, love & coffee,
