Holiday Traditions

We've all got them, you know those holiday traditions. My family likes to pull out the fondue pot and fondue it up. This year we took it out a few days early and tested out my new thrift store find.(A $4.50 score!!)

We decided to use pre-made cheese properly titled, "Fondue." We didn't want the hassle of trying to melt cheese and it not working out. We chose a cheese fondue over a hot oil or chocolate just for the simple fact that we were craving veggies and fruit.

We used:
  • Granny Smith Apples
  • Fresh Green Beans
  • Mushrooms
  • Jalapenos
  • Broccoli
  • Cubed sour dough bread

My favorites were the green beans and the broccoli. The apples were pretty good as well! I couldn't stomach the jalapenos, they were far too strong for my stomach. We paired it with a Moscato wine, which worked out perfectly. We sampled a recipe on the back of the cheese box which suggested an indian flair by adding curry spice and lemon juice, it was delicious!!

What are some of your holiday traditions? Do you like to fondue? Share your favorite combos if you'd like.

peace, love & cheese,

P.S. I'll be taking the rest of the weekend off and will return on Wednesday after Christmas. Have a lovely weekend for those gathering with friends & family to celebrate Christmas. For those of you who have already celebrated Hannukah or are not celebrating, take some time to relax. =)
