Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Kia Motors

With the holidays right around the corner, I've decided to partner with Kia Motors to share with you my 10 Holiday road trip essentials! I would guess that 3 out of 5 people are driving in their vehicle over the holidays to get to their destination so planning is a must! My family consists of my husband and I plus our little 3 year old. With that said, our road trips always start with a list!

Our list includes at minimum these 10 essentials:

1. GPS: These are always a great alternative to a good old fashioned map. They take most of the guess work out of deciphering which way you are really supposed to be going. I have this one and I love it because it's super user friendly.

2. Books + Magazines: I think these are great to pass the time. Many times I don't get enough time to sit down and read a book because of the little guy however, in the car I always find time. Many people use their digital reading device as well.

3. Music: Many times I'll burn a disc to listen to off of my itunes or I'll bring my favorite c.d. Right now I'm loving The Lumineers, if you haven't listened yet I suggest you should.

4. Tire Gauge: This is always a great accessory to have in your glove box. You never know when you'll need to check your tire pressure. It's the cheapest car maintenance tool and so easy to use. The one shown above is digital and takes all the guesswork out of it.

5. Water bottle: You can never have enough water can you? We always bring our Nalgene water bottle with us wherever we go. It's nice to stay hydrated and not have to worry about anything spilling in the car.

6. Snacks: A good variety of snacks are nice to have along. We like to plan ahead so we're bypassing fast food and making better time on the road.

7. Cooler: We fill our small cooler up with apples, sandwiches, water and other miscellaneous items. We get so much use out of our cooler while away from home. The one shown is from Bungalow and works fabulous!

8. Portable DVD Player: If you have kids, you'll know that these things are amazing! If our little guy gets tired of playing with his race cars or reading books, we'll let him watch a video to pass the time.

9. Change: You might head through tollways or need change for parking. You can never be over prepared.

10. Notebook: I tend to always have a notebook with me on road trips. I like to scribble and jot down notes of places that I see that I'd like to check out later.

Once we check these 10 essentials off the list, we load our luggage into the car, do a little happy dance, and we're ready to roll!
