Back to basics.

There is something to be felt when you go back to the basics in life. Basics as in, no iPhone, no television and nothing plugged in that will be entertaining you. These past few weeks, my son and I have been exploring the simple things in life. When putting these images together I imagined a good 'ol country song playing along. Doesn't it feel that way? When was the last time you unplugged and took some time to do some good old fashioned things in life? As you can see in the photos, we spent some time in mother nature. It's funny how quickly we forget the beauty of the small things in life.
Happy Friday folks! Will you unplug this weekend?
Try doing one thing differently, and report back!

  2. As a matter of fact, I "unplugged" yesterday am . . .

My boyfriend and I are housesitting in the country. They live on a decent amount of land with a big garden and a chicken coop with NINETEEN CHICKENS! Yesterday morning, Matt was at work, and I walked outside in my jammies to let the chickens out. The door swung shut behind me and there I was, locked outside with 19 chickens, with no keys/phone/book/anything to distract me! I was out there for 2.5 hours and while I was bummed at first, I quickly took it as an opportunity to SLOW DOWN and just BE for a while. I think it was really good for the soul. :)

    1. That sounds amazing! My Mom is trying to talk me into getting a chicken coop.I kind of love that you got locked out! It forces us to 'deal' with ourselves undistracted and like you said, just BE! Thanks for sharing this!! :)

  3. New follower to your pretty and happy blog :) This is a great post because it's a reminder to re-focus. Sometimes I get so lost in my technology cloud I forget to go back to basics...maybe I'll spend the weekend unplugged!
