Latest Scouting: St. Louis, Missouri.

by - Friday, March 23, 2012

Last week my son and I travelled to St. Louis to send my younger sister off to her new home. We stayed a very short time but did have enough time to visit the magnificent Gateway Arch. Standing 630 feet above ground on the banks of the mighty Mississippi is this beauty of a national monument.  Designed by the lovely and talented designer Eero Saarinen. If you're ever in the St. Louis area, this is a must see. Although, I just couldn't work up the gumption to take the tram to the top of this thing I hear that it's an amazing view. For more information on the Arch and history go here and here.

A few other things I would have liked to see but wasn't able due to time and weather (stormy as shown in the photos) was the Saint Louis Zoo and the city museum. I hear the zoo is one of the best in the Midwest and the city museum is fantastically amazing! Would love to hear your thoughts if you've been to either place.

Here are a few photos from our visit to the Gateway Arch and Park:

How amazing is this place? I would've spent an entire day just enjoying the park and gazing at this monumental piece of beauty.

  1. The rain makes the photos looks so bright and clean. Green and flowering trees - just lovely! Was in St Louis nearly 30 years ago - saw the arch, but don't remember what else.

  2. this was a wonderful time, and the pictures turned out lovely! <3

  3. CIty Museum is possibly the COOLEST PLACE EVER!! Sorry for all the caps, but it really is! I went there in '09 and was running around that place like a kid in a candy store. It has a 7 story spiral slide, a bar, a vintage store, architectural antiques, a giant bug collection....I could go on and on at its awesomeness. My daughter is 15 months and as soon as she's old enough to enjoy it we are going back there. I'm looking more forward to taking her there than Disney!

  4. Lovely photos. Looks like an eventful trip!

  5. St. Louis is beautiful and what a lovely trip it was! @Laurie, I am so bummed we didn't make it to the city museum. I am SO GOING there next time without a doubt! It sounds amazing!
